Here We Go

Putting pen to paper or rather fingers to keyboard in order to begin a task can be difficult. As my attention is constantly being drawn to the birds at the feeder, I find myself feeling very much in the same position of Chevy Chase in his role as Andy Farmer in the 1988 movie Funny Farm. Here he has the chance to start his great novel and all he can do is stare at the blank page in his typewriter! Suddenly everything becomes more interesting....

Yep, I 'm going to start a blog.... yep, here I go....

So why do I even want to start writing? Who would want to even read what I write about? OK, now I'm beginning to sound like Julia in the 2009 movie Julie & Julia.

Since we are on the topic of movies, tomorrow marks the date of one of my favorite films: Groundhog Day. "Rise and shine woodchuck chuckers and don't forget your booties 'cause its cold out there..."
Speaking of cold, here in our little town in Pennsylvania, the temperature outside is 22.5. Now I know in the grand scheme of things that that isn't very cold, but with the expected precipitation on the way, I'm not looking forward to the potential ice/snow covering. Batteries are charging, while candles and oil lamps are at the ready --- just in case this storm brings a loss of power. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we stay in the 21st century.

When I stop and think about it, I've been blogging well before there was the internet. Nobody read what I wrote though --- that would be my diary. So let's try the electronic sort of diary for a change.

Let's begin with a little bit about me.
"Chapter 1 --- I was born"(thanks Mr. Dickens and Melanie Wilkes from GWTW for that quote)
OK,  so I won't go back that far...
So here I am married almost 23 years (that will be on the 20th of this month) with two fantastic daughters (I knew they would like that adjective) trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. I began my career as an Occupational Therapist. But after our daughter was born, we reasoned that if financially we could manage, then I would stay at home --- at least until school started. Then little sister came along and soon after I embarked on my second career as Homeschool Mom. Well, now that both girls have graduated and are enrolled in college, I find myself looking upon new career options...

Since I still hold the forever title of Mom, I need to cease my self-indulgence of blogging at this time and get some dinner going. So this is all I plan on writing for my first entry.
Ta-ta for now...
